College/Apprenticeship Interviews

It’s almost inevitable that you’ll be nervous before an interview for a higher apprenticeship or school leaver programme. If you know what to expect and have done your preparation, however, you should be able to perform well and make a good impression in spite of your nerves. Nerves can even be an advantage, as long as you can keep them under control – they’re a sign that the interview really matters to you and will give you the focus and alertness you need to succeed. Read on to find out more about the types of interviews and commonly asked questions.

 


Online ability and aptitude tests for school leaver programmes, including numerical and verbal reasoning tests

If you apply for a higher apprenticeship or school leaver programme with a big employer, it’s highly likely that you will be asked to take some online tests after submitting your online application. These kinds of assessments are known as psychometric tests and there are various different types, including ability tests, aptitude tests and personality tests.

Make sure your online application form stands out for the right reasons and helps you get the school leaver programme or apprenticeship place you want.

Remember, there is always help and advice readily available at school to help you on your career journey – not just in Year 11 but from Year 7 all the way through your school life.  Your careers co-ordinator is Miss Perry, please come and speak with them should you have any concerns or questions about college, apprenticeships, university,  the types of careers available – and they will point you in the right direction.
